Great Lakes Designs was formed in 1987 to import and market woodenware to retail and housewares accounts in North America.

We market our products to houseware specialty stores, department stores, mass merchandisers, drug stores, grocery stores, hardware stores, gift stores, and catalog companies.

In 1987 we established our own office in Bangkok, Thailand to serve as our base of operation in Asia. Our Thai partner, is in charge of our Thailand office, that is responsible for sourcing and supervising inspection, shipment, packaging details, and all aspects of export. Our active involvement over many years in Asia-US trade insures high quality standards and competitive pricing on Great Lakes products. Some of the stores that carry Great Lakes items include Bed Bath & Beyond, HomePlace, Linen's and Things, Lechters, Spiegel Catalog, among others.

We welcome visits in Thailand and China, if you wish, to one or our wood factories.

We also welcome visits to our wire factory in China, which is just a one-hour boat ride from HK. Our counterpart in China will be pleased to show you our substantial factory and discuss any current of custom items we can manufacture for you under private label or our own label.
